Chain Belts-remember those grunge days and flannel button-ups, ripped jeans and Nirvana blasting super loud? Chain belts are definitely hip once more-pair them with your favorite jeans or even some dress pants.
Claw Clips-Big tortoiseshell clips, big silver claws or even a favorite black claw clip were all our friends during the 90’s. They keep our hair faces nice and cool and keep hair out of the way when it’s time to be a boss babe and get stuff done. And now, they are returning as a 90’s fashion statement.
Bandanas-Remember wearing bandanas on your head in varying colors? Some would tie them up to go flat around their head, like a rapper, others would let the back flap hang out. No matter how you did it, it was cute and fun. You can even get several in a pack on Amazon, so there’s plenty for you to use in your own unique ways. They go great around the neck or your head.
Bucket Hats-Joey on Dawson’s Creek, anyone? These aren’t just for fishermen. They’re versatile, fun and do a great job of keeping the sun out of your eyes, Plus, Lacoste had models wearing them during their fall and winter 2018 show!
A windbreakers-that distinctive swish sound you made while walking around with one of these bright colored babies was annoying to some and the envy of others. Grab a windbreaker in your favorite neon hues and put it with black leggings-the demure shades with the bright pops will complement one another.
Patched Denim Jackets-No doubt you’ve seen patched clothing items all over the place-everything from jean shorts all the way up to purses have featured patches lately. And it’s no wonder-patches are so 90’s and fun to wear. Formerly the stuff of punk rockers showing their love for their favorite bands, now you can get in on the trend with many styles of denim patched jackets available now.
Tube Tops– Usually seen with baggy, oversized pants, we can’t help but remember the days of wearing tube tops. They were super easy to put on and went best with bellybutton rings and oversized necklaces… or bucket hats. (See above!)
Tie-dye– Tie-dye is one of those things that never really died with the 60’s, but we saw a serious resurgence of it in the 90’s. It was everywhere and totally cool (and groovy) to wear again!
Halter tops-Remember those fun tops we had that tied in the back and showed just enough of our belly, but not enough to make your mom go crazy? They’re part of the current wardrobe-and more fun than ever to wear.
Wide-leg Pants-Maybe you were one of those crazy rave kids with the parachute pants. Maybe you were a hip-hop dude wearing baggy JNCOs. No matter how you spin it, wide-leg pants were cool in many ways. Get a newer, updated pair today-styles are available at H & M- and wear this grown-up version to look retro chic.
High Waisted Jeans-High waisted jeans are super cute in so many ways. They flatter any and all body types, and you can put some adorable crop tops with them. Grab a pair of these for a casual day at work with a cute sweater or dress them down with a cute crop for going out.
Printed Leggings-Not unlike the styles of today, the printed legging trend of the 90’s fashion was super cute and comfortable. They began in the 80’s as exercise gear, but the 90’s and today saw them as comfortable streetwear.
Overalls-some call them dungarees, some call them a fashion nope. We say do what you want-they’re totally in again and the baggier, the better. Wear them with one strap down for the ultimate 90’s look!
Matching Plaids-Okay, this style is EVERYTHING we love about 90’s fashion and now. First of all, we remember Cher rocking it in Clueless. Then Iggy Azalea brought it back with her “Fancy” video. Now you can be a style icon of your own-find your favorite shade of plaid and match away in a pantsuit or skirt set. Pair with a cool graphic tee for extra effect.
Slip Dress-Remember those spaghetti-strapped numbers girls used to wear? They’re back again! The delicate, beautiful style was made famous by the likes of Kate Moss, and now they’re back again. Wear them with one of those cool tattoo-style choker necklaces, or even a long, dangly necklace.
Babydoll dresses-If Baby Spice was your favorite Spice Girl, then you know exactly what we are getting at! You can even pair a white tee shirt under your dress for added effect, and increased modesty if at work.
Maxi skirts-Remember those long maxi skirts with hems up the side? Bonus points if you can find one with a silver chain going across the front, or even on the side. They were the original athleisure!
Adidas Slides-OMG! Who remembers seeing everybody wear these (we won’t judge if you wore them with socks!)? This 90’s fashion staple is so not just for soccer teams anymore. These comfy and stylish slides are coming back-thank goodness-and make walking and style an absolute breeze.
