Meghan Markle….a name which has always been the talk of the town and after she had exchanged the vows with Prince Harry in the royal wedding 2018, her popularity has eventually enhanced in a remarkable way.
All of us are definitely aware of a lot of things about Meghan Markle, the famous Meghan Markle’s wedding dress and Meghan Markle’s wedding of course. But, any new news about her still excites us incredibly as always.
C’mon! She is Meghan- our favorite fashion diva, beloved actress and last but not the least, the Duchess of Sussex! So, such a huge buzz about her is certainly understandable.
However, there are some really surprising and lesser known things about Meghan Markle which are probably not yet completely out in the air.

1. Meghan’s first name is Rachel:
Yes! Meghan Markle’s first name isn’t Meghan. Rather, it is stated as Rachel Meghan Markle and she was born with this name. Howbeit, it can be completely agreed that Meghan Markle is certainly having the bang in her name!
2. Meghan and Harry are Distant Cousins:
Strange enough, but if you dig deep inside the family tree of Meghan Markle then it will reveal that she and Harry are distantly related as cousins. Well, the distance is pretty huge which stands to approximately a gap of fifteen generations back in time. So, there’s probably no bad in forgetting this little fact.
3. She Raised Her Voice Against Sexism at 11:
Meghan Markle became a very early advocate for women’ rights. When she was just 11, Meghan got outraged by a commercial which suggested that only women do dishes. So, the then-budding feminist wrote a letter to Procter and Gambel while asking them to amend the advertising language and they agreed to her.
4. Meghan was a Double Major at Northwestern University:
Meghan Markle told Marie Claire that she had been always interested in performance and politics both and was also compelled to double-major in college.
She explained, “I knew I wanted to do acting, but I hated the idea of being this cliché—a girl from L.A. who decides to be an actress. I wanted more than that, and I had always loved politics, so I ended up changing my major completely and double-majoring in theatre and international relations.”
5. She Used to Work for the U.S. Embassy in Argentina:
In an interview with Marie Claire, Meghan Markle discussed her career trajectory. She said, “By my junior year I had finished most of my credits, and so I applied for an internship at the U.S. Embassy, so I ended up working in the embassy in Buenos Aires for a few months.
It was their economic devaluation and our Secretary of the Treasury at the time, Paul O’Neill, was there, so I’m 20 years old, in Buenos Aires, in a motorcade, doing that whole thing. I thought for sure I would still have a career in politics.”
6. She Can Relate Too Much With ‘Suits’ Character:
Meghan Markle revealed that her role in ‘Suits’ is something with which she can very well relate to. She added, “Rachel and I very similar: ambitious, driven, and always trying to take the bull by its horns.” She further cited some harsh criticisms about her counterparts and said that she is always her own critic. The actress said, “And again, maybe that’s where I’m similar to Rachel, in that I’m harder on myself than anyone else might be.”
7. She Loves Good Food!
Meghan Markle has a great obsession with foods. Meghan said, “ My character is a foodie because they know that I’m a foodie. I’m always on the quest to find amazing new restaurants and new recipes. She even said, “I’m a California girl, right? I grew up with that farm-to-table dining before it was sweeping the nation. I do think there’s some value to really throwing yourself into food and embracing where it comes from.”
8. She Wore Personal Pieces of Jewelry for Suits:
Who doesn’t know the BFF and personal stylist of Meghan Markle? She is none but Jessica Mulroney. Meghan is pretty fond of wearing her pieces of jewelry. But, still, when it was Suits she insisted to style her pieces of jewelry by own. She said to Marie Claire, “All the jewelry that I wear on the show is my own personal jewelry and family heirlooms, like my grandma’s charm bracelet and my signet ring.”
9. She Was the Owner of a Personal Blog ‘The Tig’:
Though it is no longer existing across the web now Meghan Markle used to run a lifestyle blog called ‘The Tig’. She used to fill it with a perfect amalgamation of food, travel, fashion and beauty content. When being interviewed by Allure, Markle said the entire idea of the inception of this blog came from her view regarding the difference between red and white wine. She said, “Oh, I’ll just have red or white. I don’t really know what the difference is. But then one day you take a sip of something and you’re like, I get it. So the Tig became this personal idea of getting it—fashion, travel, beauty, all of it.”
10. She Possesses the Travel Bug:
Meghan Markle had been always a globetrotter of her own kind and she always loved to travel in her own right before roaming around the world with Prince Harry. She told, “I love to travel. My most recent trips in the past year and a half have been biking through Vietnam, camper-vanning through New Zealand, and touring the whole coast of Croatia and the islands there. I always want off the beaten path, Anthony Bourdain-inspired travel.”
